Why We ExistAfrica needs $10–20 billion in new data centre investment by 2030 to meet projected demand, a four-to-fivefold increase from today’s installed base of roughly 400 MW. Almost none of what exists on the continent today can run modern AI workloads at scale.
Legacy African facilities were built for storage and web hosting. They lack the liquid cooling, power density, and AI silicon that inference workloads need, so African startups and fintechs end up routing AI traffic offshore to Europe or the US at latencies above 120ms.
AfWS closes that gap on the continent, with African ownership of the underlying IP.
